Peter Ren is involved with simulation studies of biological systems. He received a B.S. in chemical biology and a B.A. in computer science, both from UC Berkeley. As a member of John Kuriyan’s lab, Peter studied the structural biology of proteins using both computational and experimental techniques. He used molecular dynamics simulations (both classical and Gaussian accelerated) to study the human Ras oncoprotein. Peter also researched the DNA clamp loader protein in bacteriophage T4 through saturation mutagenesis, which involved a virus competition assay he helped develop and optimize. In his free time, he enjoys messing around on the piano, exploring nature, and teaching kids science.
