Qi Wang applies molecular dynamics simulations to study biological systems, with a current focus on protein kinases. He holds a B.S. in physical chemistry from Peking University and a Ph.D. in biophysics from Cornell University. Prior to joining DESRES, Qi was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of John Kuriyan at U.C. Berkeley, where he used his expertise in biochemistry, biophysics, and computational biology to study tyrosine kinases. In the Kuriyan lab, Qi discovered a small-molecule activator for Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (Btk), a tyrosine kinase of broad interest in immune signaling and as a drug target. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, travelling, and making long-distance road trips.
