Kim Palmo is involved in development of improved force fields for biomolecular simulation. Kim earned a Ph.D. and an M.Sc. in physics, as well as a B.Sc. in mathematics, from the University of Helsinki. He came to DESRES from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he worked for many years developing “physics-driven” molecular mechanic force fields for biological and synthetic polymers, with an emphasis on vibrational spectroscopy. He also developed a comprehensive, user-friendly software package (SPEAR) for molecular mechanics and dynamics calculations.
