George Hedger

George Hedger applies simulation to study biological systems, with a focus on ion channels. George holds both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in molecular and cellular biochemistry, and a Ph.D. in computational biochemistry from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining DESRES, George was a postdoctoral fellow in Mark Sansom's group at the University of Oxford, where he investigated the effects of key biological lipid species on the function and selectivity of various membrane protein receptors. As a graduate student, George established and employed molecular simulation protocols to characterize the interactions of lipids with a range of biomedically relevant membrane proteins.
