Ron Dror is involved in the operational management of a wide range of activities at DESRES, including the coordination of research activities across disciplinary boundaries, management-level oversight of schedules and budgets, and high-level supervision of the lab's recruitment, administrative, legal, systems, and technology transfer functions. He also participates directly in various research activities within the lab, and has collaborated with colleagues in each of its major subgroups. He earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT and an M.Phil. in biological sciences as a Churchill Scholar at the University of Cambridge, after graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in electrical engineering and a B.A. in mathematics from Rice University. Ron joined DESRES in 2002 as its first hire. Previously, he conducted both computational and experimental research in genomics, vision, and neurophysiology. Ron enjoys traveling and learning languages, and appreciates his rare opportunities to speak Norwegian.
