Tiankai Tu focuses on developing new parallel software systems to support the analysis of massive molecular dynamics simulation trajectories. Tiankai earned his Ph.D. in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University, where he developed computational database systems and parallel algorithms for simulating earthquake ground motion on multi-thousand-processor supercomputers. Prior to his doctoral studies, he received an M.E. in computer science and a B.E. in international economics and trade from Shanghai Jiaotang University.
