Ansgar Philippsen develops computational chemistry software tools. Ansgar earned a Ph.D. in biophysics from the Biozentrum, and a B.S. in molecular biology from the University of Basel. Ansgar comes to DESRES from the Maurice Müller Institute, where, as a researcher, he headed the team that developed IPLT, an open-source image processing framework for electron microscopy data of membrane proteins. He also authored the molecular visualization package DINO. In his free time, Ansgar enjoys rock climbing, reading, and sampling world cuisine.
