Patrick Miller develops a variety of scientific software tools in use at DESRES. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis, an M.S. from the California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and a B.G.S. from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, all in computer science. Patrick came to DESRES from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he worked on compiler systems for advanced computer languages and was the lead architect on an advanced design code. A Python language expert, he is the author of the popular pyMPI tool. He has taught computer science at a number of universities, including the University of California, Davis, the University of San Francisco, and Stanford University. In his free time, Pat works as a volunteer firefighter. He also enjoys cooking, woodworking, and—of course—computer programming.
